Summer high.

One of the perks of living in the southern side of Luzon is being able to go on a maximum of 2-hour road trip to Batangas when you feel like you need a dose of vitamin sea and a break from the the city life. Batangas is one of islands in the Philippines known for being blessed with picturesque scenic views and breathtaking (yet budget-friendly) beaches.

On our way to the beach, my friends and I were greeted by this mesmerizing view of the fields and the mountain ranges. We were able to witness a day in the life of the farmers harvesting their crops or plowing the fields with their carabaos as we go along.

After two stop-overs, we finally made it to Virgin Beach Resort in Laiya, Batangas. If there is one word that popped in my head upon seeing it, it would be beautiful. It is the perfect place for a chill weekend.

Look at the water! It may not be as crystal clear as the waters in Coron, but it is still clean.

The waves splashing on Dianne, while Lianne and Bianca laugh behind.

The waves are lovely too but do not let them deceive you. As a matter of fact, they were so strong, they could make you tumble and roll around the shore. However, regardless of the waves’ “strong personality”, for some reason, the splashes were quite relaxing.

The resort offers recreational activities as well, like parasailing, banana boat ride, and riding the jet ski, but we did not avail. Instead, my friends and I found other ways to have fun. Some of us tried to build sand castles and chased the waves. Hazel, Bee, and Lianne, on the other hand, buried themselves in the sand. Around lunchtime, we thought it would rain because the clouds got darker. We were looking forward to swimming and playing under the rain, but the sun decided to show itself after a while. Well, rain or shine, there’s no stopping us in having fun at the beach!

I’d like to think that we ended the summer with good memories. The laughter, the smiles, and the fun times we shared together have already found their way to my core memory. As this quote says, “The tans will fade but the memories will last forever”.

Our game faces are now ready for the new chapter of the season.
